Therapeutic Uses of Mescal Buttons

Therapeutic Uses of Mescal Buttons (Anhalonium Lewinii)

Source: The Therapeutic Gazette Vol 10 Third Series Vol 12
Authors: D.W. Prentiss and Francis P. Morgan

Doctors Prentiss and Morgan share a letter sent them by a correspondent (unnamed in the source) who had success using mescal buttons for a variety of physical therapies. The author outlines the use of mescal for minor aches, common illnesses, and to calm his sister who was “out of her head.”

However, after reprinting the letter, Prentiss and Morgan discuss the visionary quality of peyote and how ceremony, chanting, and drumming act to strengthen the visions.
