Author: Timothy Leary

In this brief letter, Leary tries urges Thompson to conspire against author Peter O. Whitmer. Leary was not happy with Whitmer and asks Thompson to join him in a little “payback” for some undisclosed reason. Unfortunately, the cover letter indicates that there was more to the story, only I have been unable to locate the rest of it. I will keep searching and will update as more discoveries are made.

In the meanwhile, we may wonder what happened between the two men who used to be friends. Leary even sent Whitmer a signed copy of his book Flashbacks, in which he refers to him as a “friend and literary companion,” that I found among the Peter O. Whitmer Counter Cultural Collection, available here. I will also check Robert Greenfield’s biography of Leary to see if that fetches anything of relevance.
